Watch again: June 2020 Cambridge Museum of Technology volunteers’ webinar (45 mins):

Watch again: question & answer session with researcher and presenter, David Stubbings (13 mins):

Cambridge Museum of Technology’s volunteer-produced webinar series continues with David Stubbings, Chairman of Chesterton Local History Group and volunteer at Cambridge Museum of Technology.

David presents an illustrated history of the ferries that traditionally provided transport across the river Cam, connected people and enabled trade over centuries of Cambridge’s history.

The modern river Cam is home to boats of many shapes and sizes, from punt boats to rowing boats to barges, house-boats and river cruisers. Although ferries have disappeared from the maritime landscape in Cambridge, traces of their legacy still survive on the banks of the river Cam.
